Object Annex :: Schweingruber's Anatomy of Wood

Look closely at the microscopic characteristics of various timbers. Look very very closely.

This Web-based identification key is a completely revised (text, key) and updated (more and new photographs and new anatomic items) version of the book by someone called Schweingruber. His, her or its name alone is enough reason to peruse this database in depth. The fact that the slides make the microscopic structure of wood look like elegantly deconstructing lace is just a bonus.
